"....he hath appointed me to preach the gospel to the poor...he hath sent me...to preach deliverance to the captives."  Luke 4:18

"......I was in prison, and ye came unto me."  Matthew 25:36

"...go ye therefore and teach all nations..."  Matthew 28:19

These are the words of Jesus that we are to follow if we want to be His disciples.  A disciple is someone who has chosen to pursue, follow after and obey the one in whom he believes possesses truth and, in fact, is Truth.

The Chaplaincy Volunteer Program at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility has provided a 20-year window of opportunity for disciples at Word Aflame to "preach the gospel" to the poor and incarcerated.  During this time, hundreds of inmates have repented, been baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins with the promise of receiving the Holy Ghost.  Additionally, the WAF administrative staff has provided certificates for those baptismal candidates.  Funding for the certificates is also part of the Word Aflame commitment to this rewarding ministry.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
